UNLA Chairman Shevchuk joined the competition commission to elect the deputy head of the SAP, calls for an end to manipulations regarding his election

Kyiv. January 21. INTERFAX-UKRAINE – Oleksiy Shevchuk, Chairman of the Ukrainian National Lobbyists Association (UNLA), Spokesperson of the Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA), passed a competitive selection process at the Council of Prosecutors of Ukraine and was elected to the position of one of the members of the competition commission, which is to select the deputy head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP).

However, as Shevchuk reported on his Facebook page, commenting on the appointment, “immediately after that, another wave of information attacks, slander and provocations began” from a number of activists.

In particular, according to him, he “is and was Ilya Kyva’s lawyer during the period when he held the position of head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs department and was responsible for countering drug trafficking.”

It was then, in my opinion, that he entered into conflict with groups of “activists” who were linked to the distribution of drugs in the notorious “Clouzer” club,” Shevchuk specified.

Shevchuk drew attention to the fact that “these same people, in my opinion, acted as provocateurs and “torpedoes” back when, as a military lieutenant, I was a nominee for the High Council of Justice under the president’s quota.”

He emphasized that “I did not “hide” or “dodge”: on March 7, I mobilized and work for the army and the front as a serviceman.”

I will note separately: I personally did not allow officials of the Lviv City Council to steal first-aid kits intended for our military,” he said.

Shevchuk emphasized that “if someone used the names of the funds and my name for illegal actions, this will have procedural consequences.”

We have already been provided with relevant incriminating evidence regarding individuals who may be involved in abuses. I am aware of individual journalists obtaining information about our clients in violation of procedure. Manipulation and distortion of facts will not go unanswered – neither in court nor within the Commission on Journalist Ethics. Relevant lawsuits have already been filed, and work in this direction will be continued,” Shevchuk said.
