Uzbekistan and Türkiye have agreed to increase the mutual trade turnover to $5 billion over the next two years, Report informs via Uzbekistan media.
This was announced after the meeting of Uzbekistan’s Ambassador in Ankara Ilhom Haydarov with the Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat.
During the talks, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of trade-economic and investment cooperation. By the end of 2024, the value of mutual trade reached $3 billion, and now the goal is to approximately double this figure.
The Turkish side emphasized that there are great reserves to achieve the set goal, noting the high competitiveness of both countries’ products in world markets.
Special attention was paid to the opportunities arising within the framework of the Preferential Trade Agreement signed by Türkiye with Uzbekistan, as well as Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Iran.
During the negotiations, reducing tariff and non-tariff barriers for Uzbekistan exporters were discussed, including the reduction of additional import duties on electrical engineering, textile, and cable products, as well as the elimination of restrictions on the import of certain types of fruits and vegetables.
