Turkmenistan and USA hold political consultations

The eleventh round of bilateral political consultations between Turkmenistan and the United States of America was held in Washington on August 20, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.

During the consultations, the Turkmen side was headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, and the American side was headed by Deputy Assistant Secretary of the US Department of State for South and Central Asian Affairs John Mark Pommersheim.

The parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of Turkmen-American relations, and exchanged views on current issues on the international agenda.

The sides reaffirmed their commitment to developing relations between the Turkmenistan and United States, including cooperation in the field of security, expansion of trade-economic ties, and intensification of partnership within the framework of the regional diplomatic platform “C5+1”.

The issues of implementing bilateral projects with leading American companies were also considered and prospects for expanding their investment opportunities in Turkmenistan were discussed.

The parties emphasized that regular bilateral consultations serve as an effective mechanism for the further development of Turkmen-American cooperation.
