President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called for the Middle Corridor to be viewed as the foundation of an emerging economic connectivity system between Europe and Central Asia, according to Report.
In an article for Euronews ahead of his visit to Brussels, Tokayev said Kazakhstan is developing the Middle Corridor between Europe and Asia in line with the European Union’s Global Gateway initiative.
According to the Kazakh leader, the route should be regarded not merely as a transport artery for faster cargo deliveries but as a broader platform for economic integration.
“The Middle Corridor is best understood as the foundation of an emerging system linking European markets and economic centers with Central Asia’s resources, its growing industrial base, and its logistical potential,” Tokayev wrote.
He emphasized that genuine connectivity promotes market integration, stimulates investment, supports entrepreneurship, and brings societies closer together.
Drawing a parallel with the historic Silk Road, Tokayev noted that transport routes have always served as strategic arteries and that leveraging geographical advantages can create new opportunities for economic growth and higher productivity.
Tokayev is scheduled to pay an official visit to Brussels on June 22–23 at the invitation of António Costa, President of the European Council.
