Following recent electricity restrictions in Ulaanbaatar, Prime Minister Zandanshatar Gombojav inspected the readiness of the “National Dispatching Center” JSC.
As of 10:00, January 24, 2026, the center reported a total system load of 597 MW, around 30 MW imported, and 160 MW reserve in battery storage. The Prime Minister instructed authorities to use the relatively stable weekend weather to increase reserves.
Officials confirmed that with the boiler issue at Thermal Power Plant 4 (TPP-4) resolved and the Buuruljuut Power Plant operating at full capacity, the electricity supply will remain uninterrupted. The PM expressed gratitude to the engineers and technical staff working around the clock.
He stated, “Buuruljuut Power Plant will maintain supply at installed capacity (300 MW). Moving forward, we must reduce plant costs, increase efficiency, and ensure strict compliance with technological norms and standards. Disruptions occur when technology is mismanaged. Consumers must not be inconvenienced.”
The center’s management reported that the power load has stabilized since 05:00, January 24, 2026.
In previous days, to prevent risks from capacity shortfalls, electricity restrictions were expanded. Ulaanbaatar was divided into 16 zones, each limited to 60 MW at a time.
