Minister of Road and Transport of Mongolia Delgersaikhan Borkhuu held a meeting with Regional Officer for Aviation Safety Implementation in the Asia-Pacific Region of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Susantha De Silva and ICAO Regional Officer for Technical Assistance Raju Shrestha on March 21, Montsame reported.
At the meeting, Minister of Road and Transport Delgersaikhan extended gratitude to the ICAO representatives for visiting Mongolia at a time when the country is preparing to launch direct flights to the United States. The Minister emphasized the importance of expanding the aviation sector and ensuring aviation safety and security.
“The International Civil Aviation Organization has 183 member states and adheres to over 10,000 standards. Based on preliminary results, Mongolia has a well-trained aviation workforce and a robust regulatory framework. However, in order to further enhance aviation safety, it is necessary to improve regulations, modernize equipment, enhance navigation services, and establish a regional air traffic management backup center,” ICAO Regional Officer for Aviation Safety Implementation in the Asia-Pacific Region Dr. Susantha De Silva stated.
The ICAO representatives provided assessments and recommendations to the Civil Aviation Authority of Mongolia on issues such as the implementation of the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation, Mongolia’s civil aviation laws and regulations, aviation security oversight and regulatory mechanisms, and human resource capacity and personnel qualification and training.
