Hyundai plans to open train production in Uzbekistan. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan, Jasurbek Choriev, met with the representative of Hyundai Rotem, Kwak Chol Hun, to discuss the possibility of creating production facilities for electric trains. The meeting took place in Tashkent, and both parties focused on the prospects for developing the country’s railway infrastructure.

According to the meeting participants, the new production is planned to be launched at the “Tashkent Plant for the Construction and Repair of Passenger Cars” JSC. This will be an important step in strengthening the partnership between South Korea and Uzbekistan, as well as in advancing the transportation sector.
Hyundai Rotem representatives gave a presentation on localizing the production of electric trains. During the meeting, the parties discussed various aspects of cooperation, including potential production volumes and the investments required to implement this project. This initiative will play a significant role in developing local industry.
Although no official documents were signed this time, both parties agreed to continue working together. The meeting participants decided to thoroughly analyze Hyundai’s proposal and evaluate the potential for expanding production facilities in Tashkent.
At this stage, both sides see great potential for further cooperation, which could contribute to the modernization of Uzbekistan’s railway transport system.
