The Cabinet of Ministers has re-approved and sent the new Customs Code to the Verkhovna Rada for approval.
Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
“We are resuming a substantive dialogue with parliamentarians on the new draft Customs Code. Today, the government has re-approved this draft and submitted it to the Verkhovna Rada, as required by law,” he said.
Koretskyi noted that this is one of the key draft laws in the process of European integration.
He added that he expects effective and productive work on the document together with the MPs on each of its provisions.
The Prime Minister noted that the new version of the Customs Code should ensure the transformation of Ukrainian customs into a modern security border of the European model.
In turn, the Ministry of Finance reports that, in accordance with the legislation, in connection with the formation of a new government, the draft of the new Customs Code, which was submitted by the government to the Verkhovna Rada in May, is considered withdrawn. The new bill, completely identical to the previous one in content, was re-approved at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and will be sent to the parliament for consideration in the near future.
The Ministry of Finance notes that, according to consultations held with MPs, the work in the committees of the Verkhovna Rada on preparing the draft of the new Customs Code for the first reading has not stopped and will be continued with the new draft law.
The Ministry of Finance also notes that the main innovations and changes (compared to the current legislation) consist in a full transition to EU customs terminology, a system of authorizations, customs procedures has been agreed, a European approach to decision-making, declarations, customs debt, guarantees, and exemptions from paying customs duties has been provided.
