Azerbaijani PM: Since 2022, cargo transportation along Middle Corridor increased by approximately 90%

Azerbaijan has achieved an increase in the volume of cargo transportation along the Middle Corridor by approximately 90% since 2022, and the transit time of cargo along it has been significantly reduced, Prime Minister Ali Asadov said in Turkmenistan at the plenary session of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, Report informs.

Azerbaijan is a country that makes a significant contribution to the East-West and North-South transport corridors. The largest merchant fleet in the Caspian Sea, consisting of more than 50 vessels, a shipyard where 10 vessels are currently being built, the Baku International Sea Trade Port, the capacity of which will reach 25 million tons per year in the coming years, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, 9 international airports, the largest air transportation company in the region and many other factors have turned Azerbaijan into one of the international transport hubs. For example, the fact that container block trains from a number of Chinese cities are delivered to Baku in just 10-12 days underlines the importance of the Middle Corridor as an important trade route,” he noted.
