Azerbaijan raises domestic electricity tariffs

New domestic electricity tariffs have been determined in Azerbaijan, the Tariff Council has made a decision in this regard, APA reports.

Taking into account the effect of the natural gas price increase on the production costs of electricity and the need to improve the sustainability of services in this area, new tariffs for electricity have been determined.

For the population, the monthly consumption volume is as follows:

  • The tariff for 1 kilowatt-hour of electricity for the 200 kWh section has been increased by 0.4 kopecks (5%) from 8 kopecks to 8.4 kopecks;
  • The tariff for the 200 to 300 kWh section has been increased by 1 kopeck (11.1%) from 9 kopecks to 10 kopecks;
  • The tariff for the section over 300 kWh has been increased by 2 kopecks (15.4%) from 13 kopecks to 15 kopecks.

The average tariff for 1 kilowatt-hour of electricity for the population has been increased by 0.7 kopecks (7.8%).

After the tariff change, the expected increase in the average monthly expenses for subscribers is as follows:

  • For 65% of subscribers, an increase of 45 kopecks;
  • For 20% of subscribers, an increase of 1 manat 33 kopecks;
  • For 15% of subscribers (those with higher consumption), an increase of 5 manat 61 kopecks.

As seen, for 65% of the population, the tariff for 1 kilowatt-hour of electricity has been increased by the minimum level of 0.4 qepik (5%).

To minimize the impact on the consumer goods index, the tariff for 1 kilowatt-hour of electricity for industry and agriculture has been increased by 0.6 kopecks (6%), from 10 kopecks to 10.6 kopecks.

The tariff for 1 kilowatt-hour of electricity provided to electric charging stations has been increased by 1.5 kopecks (13.6%), from 11 kopecks to 12.5 kopecks. The price of services provided by electric charging stations will be determined freely by entrepreneurs in a competitive environment.

The decision will come into effect on January 2, 2025.
