Ancient bonds of friendship connect Türkiye and Uzbekistan

Türkiye is a large country with rich cultural values, a harmonious history, and a future that has its place and its word throughout the world. Regarding economic potential, Türkiye is among the 20 most powerful countries in the world.

When one thinks of Türkiye, one thinks of legendary cities like Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, Cappadocia, Antalya, and Bursa. These cities, with their rich historical significance, have made Türkiye a favorite and intriguing travel destination for people from all over the world, including the Uzbekistan people.

Türkiye, home to a population of over 86 million, shares its borders with a diverse range of countries, including Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Greece, and Bulgaria.

Türkiye, situated in the southeast of Europe and southwest Asia, is a melting pot of cultures. It has absorbed the influences of Byzantium, Rome, Persia, ancient Greece, and the Ottoman sultanates. The cosmopolitan city of Istanbul, nestled on the banks of the Bosphorus, is a testament to this cultural diversity. It boasts numerous attractions, including the iconic Hagia Sophia with its towering minarets, the opulent Blue Mosque from the 17th century, and the historic Topkapi Palace, once the residence of the Ottoman sultans, dating back to the 1460s.

It should be noted that Türkiye, with its rich history, is a leader in many areas. This land is home to the first writing, the first photograph, and the oldest coin. Two world wonders are located on the territory of modern Türkiye: the Temple of Artemis and the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus.

The term of military service in Türkiye is very short: depending on education, a young man serves from three to fifteen months.

In Türkiye, doctors study for nine years. The country ranks among the leaders in terms of the number of medical centers, and many Europeans go there for treatment. Turkish women have had the right to vote since 1926.

The coastlines of the Black, Marmara, Aegean, and Mediterranean seas are more than 8,000 kilometers long. Türkiye offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy clear, turquoise waters and underwater wonders.

Turkish cuisine, famous for its variety and excellent taste, is a special miracle. The well-known Turkish dessert is the oldest on earth and consists of four ingredients: boiled chicken breast, sugar, milk, and a pinch of cinnamon. Listening to Turkish songs, you will feel pleasure and peace and clearly understand the charm of the oriental melody. Perhaps these melodies seem very dear to us because our language, religion, and values are similar.

Indeed, Türkiye and Uzbekistan are connected by similar languages, ancient traditions, common religion, long-standing friendship and cultural ties. There is a reason we call the people of this country a fraternal people. After all, the ancestors of today’s Turks penetrated the territory of modern Türkiye from Mawarannahr. For this reason, Uzbekistan is considered the land of ancestors in Türkiye and is valued as a Fatherland.

The Republic of Türkiye was the first country in the world to recognize Uzbekistan’s independence, and diplomatic relations were established between the two countries on March 4, 1992. The first foreign embassy opened in the country in April 1992, the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye. In January 1993, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Türkiye was opened.

Uzbekistan exports non-ferrous metals, cotton fiber, cotton yarn, fruit and vegetable products, services, nitrogen fertilizers, and petroleum products to Türkiye. From Türkiye, we import perfumes, cosmetics, mechanical and electrical equipment, plastic and adhesive products, textiles, chemical and pharmaceutical products.

Over the past year, trade volume has increased by 1.5 times and investments by 2.5 times. There are 90 flights per week between our cities.

Leading Turkish companies are very active in the Uzbekistan market. With the participation of Turkish businesses, more than 100 projects are being effectively implemented.

The last official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Türkiye laid the foundation for enhancing comprehensive relations between the two countries. Cooperation is being strengthened in energy, mining, electrical engineering, textiles, construction, agriculture, food and pharmaceutical industries, healthcare, tourism, education, and culture. During the visit, a portfolio of promising projects worth $10 billion was formed, and the parties agreed to increase the volume of mutual trade to $5 billion.

Positive ties between the two countries will improve the well-being of the people of the two countries and strengthen mutual friendship and fraternal relations.
