Kygyz Parliament Committee ratifies agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Italy

At meeting of Kyrgyz Parliament Committee on finance, budget, entrepreneurship, and competition development, deputies ratified the agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Italian Republic on the promotion and protection of investments in the first reading.

According to Damirbek Bikulov, Deputy Head of the National Investment Agency, the agreement was signed on May 30, 2025, in Astana and initiated by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.

He noted that this bill is aimed at strengthening economic relations and expanding investment agreements. It is international legal document.

In turn, Deputy Kamila Talieva asked how much investment has been attracted to Kyrgyzstan from Italy so far.

Bikulov responded that the volume of investment from Italy is small – $2 million in the first nine months of 2025.

“They are largely making their own proposals on technology. In 2024, when the president visited Italy, agreements were reached following negotiations. This document will provide good opportunities for improving cooperation between the two countries,” he noted.

MP Ulan Primov asked the deputy head what products Kyrgyzstan intends to export to Italy.

Bikulov responded that these are primarily organic and textile products.
