USAID to continue to assist Kyrgyzstan to strengthen rule of law

Chairman of the Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan Zamirbek Bazarbekov met on Monday with Director of Programs and Deputy Director of the East West Management Institute office in Washington Niki Dasarati, the press service of the Supreme Court said.

For many years we have been actively and fruitfully cooperating with the United States Agency for International Cooperation (USAID) and its projects. Currently, we are actively cooperating with the USAID project “Ukuk Bulagy”, which provides comprehensive support to the measures taken in the Kyrgyz Republic to improve the justice system, the main directions of which are to improve the quality, efficiency and transparency of the judicial system of Kyrgyzstan, strengthening the independence of the courts and judicial self-governance,” Bazarbekov said.

He also noted that cooperation with the project is carried out in various areas. This includes assistance in the implementation of measures of the State Target Program “Development of the Justice System of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2023-2026”, as well as in some issues of digitalization of the judicial system, in conducting seminars and trainings for judges and employees of the judicial system.

The sides noted their readiness to expand cooperation to strengthen the rule of law in Kyrgyzstan.

The meeting was also attended by USAID Ukuk Bulagy Project Manager Fred Houston, USAID Ukuk Bulagy Project’s Judicial Independence Program Manager/Component 1 Leader Almaz Kasymbekov, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court Sheraly Kamchybekov, and others.
