Minister of Road and Transport Delgersaikhan Borkhuu met with the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan, Shoista Saidmurodzoda, the Deputy Minister of Railways of the Republic of Turkmenistan, and a Senior Specialist of the Transport and Logistics Department of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan to discuss expanding cooperation in transport and logistics.
The Ministry reported that during the meeting, the sides expressed their commitment to cooperate in the railway sector actively and exchanged views on taking cooperation in civil aviation, railway, and road transport to a new level, as well as exploring the possibilities of creating a new transport flow connecting the Eurasian region.
Minister Delgersaikhan expressed Mongolia’s interest in increasing transport connectivity with Central Asian countries, stating, “Cooperation in the transport sector is a fundamental factor supporting the economic, trade, and industrial growth of our countries. Therefore, Mongolia attaches great importance to developing new transport corridors and connections with Central Asian and Eastern European nations.”
The parties emphasized that transport and logistics cooperation is one of the primary avenues through which Mongolia has been intensively expanding its political and economic relations with Central Asian countries in recent years.
During the meeting, Minister Delgersaikhan noted that Mongolia and Tajikistan are expanding air and road transport cooperation and are preparing to conclude an “Air Services Agreement” in the near future. He also expressed interest in cooperating with Turkmenistan along the “Middle Corridor” and exchanged views on the development of international transport routes associated with this corridor.
Furthermore, it was noted that the Director-General of the Railway Authority, Artur B., will participate in the 53rd Session of the Ministers of the Organization for Cooperation between Railways (OSJD) Member States, which will be held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on June 11-12.
