Atagulyyev: Turkmenistan places high priority on developing transport corridors

Turkmenistan places special emphasis on developing transport corridors along the East–West and North–South directions, Turkmenistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Nokerguly Atagulyyev said at the second meeting of heads of government and vice presidents of OTS member states in Baku.

By consistently promoting initiatives to revive the ancient Silk Road in a modern format, Turkmenistan attaches special importance to developing transport corridors along the East–West and North–South axes,” he was quoted by Report as saying.

He noted that in this context, the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, as well as routes connecting the Caspian Sea, the Caucasus, Central Asia, and the Middle East, play a key role in advancing interregional trade and economic ties.

Developing these corridors opens broad opportunities to increase trade turnover and strengthen cooperation across other sectors of the economy,” he added.
