Presidential system of governance will remain relevant in Kazakhstan – Tokayev

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that the transition to a unicameral Parliament fully aligns with international trends.

As you all know, our country is carrying out large-scale transformations across various sectors. By joining efforts, we are implementing political and socio-economic reforms, and these changes will continue. We cannot stop at what has been achieved. It is important to continue the strategy of profound modernization of our state, guided by the concept of ‘Strong President – Influential Parliament – Accountable Government.’ Thus, the presidential system of governance will remain relevant in our country,” Tokayev said.

He emphasized that, overall, the move to a single-chamber Parliament fully corresponds to global practice.

A similar parliamentary model has been adopted by two-thirds of the world’s countries. Now we must develop unified principles and balanced proposals. Therefore, we need to thoroughly study and carefully consider all viewpoints and ideas,” the President added.
