Investors urged to invest in Bangladesh’s marine, offshore industry

Advisor to the Ministry of Shipping Brig Gen (ret) Dr M Sakhawat Hussain on Thursday urged local and foreign investors to invest in Bangladesh’s maritime and offshore industry to take a lot of opportunities.

He made the call while inaugurating the 6th edition of International Exhibition titled “Bangladesh International Marine and Offshore Expo (BIMOX 2024)” incorporating “Ship Building”, “Ship Recycling”, “Offshore Oil and Gas Support”, “Shipping, Logistic and Port”, “Fishing Vessels, Fishery”, “Process Automation” inaugurated at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), Dhaka.

Savor International Ltd has organized the exhibition in order to demonstrating new innovative, technologies, materials, equipment, and methods in concern sectors and explore the avenue for the participants, organizations and patrons in a single domicile.

“Bangladesh is a unique place in the globe. The country has the world’s largest bay. Besides, there is a lot of labour, and there are also rivers and seaports. One-third people are connected with river and sea. So, the industry eyes huge opportunities. We will welcome all investors here,” he highlighted.

The adviser noted that Bangladesh will be real shipbuilding nation. “Now we need collaboration among experts and other stakeholders to grow the industry. We are now very transparent,” he also said.

Besides, Rear Admiral Khandakar Akhter Hossain, NUP, ndc, psc, PhD, assistant chief of Naval Staff (M), Bangladesh Navy; Christian Brix Møller, ambassador, Royal Danish Embassy, Dhaka; André Carstens, head of mission, Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands, Dhaka; Lovisa Hofmann, head of politic, Trade and Communication, Embassy of Sweden; Commodore Mohammad Maksud Alam, (E), BSP, NUP, BCGM, BCGMS, ndc, psc, BN, director general, Department of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh; Khorshed Alam, president, Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI); Chairman, Little Group ; Dr. Abdullahel Bari, FRINA, president, Association of Export Oriented Shipbuilding Industries of Bangladesh (AEOSIB); chairman, Ananda Shipyard and Slipways Ltd were present in this ceremony.

Amirul Islam, chairman of Savor International Ltd, and Md Faizul Alam, managing director of Savor International Ltd, were also present at the inauguration ceremony.

The exhibition will continue till Saturday from 10am to 7pm every day.

In this exhibition, Companies from 15 different countries including Bangladesh have given stunning views of their products, technologies and services in more than 180 booths. A large number of visitors found experiencing the exhibition.
