The 6th meeting of the Intergovernmental Kyrgyz-Turkmen Commission on trade-economic, scientific-technical and humanitarian cooperation was held in Cholpon-Ata on July 24-25.

The Ministry of Economy of Kyrgyzstan said that the meeting was chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Torobaev Bakyt and Minister of Energy of Turkmenistan Annageldy Saparov.
The meeting reviewed the current state of trade and economic cooperation and discussed promising areas of cooperation.
In particular, the parties held talks on establishing transport communications, creating conditions for cargo and transit transportation, cooperation in energy, light industry, tourism, culture and sports.
They also agreed to intensify negotiations on the establishment of the Kyrgyz-Turkmen Development Fund, opening of Trade Houses, as well as the project for the construction of a resort and recreational complex on Issyk-Kul.
As a result, agreements were reached on further development of the contractual-legal base: it is coordination of draft Agreements on promotion and protection of investments, in the sphere of tourism, in the sphere of veterinary safety, in the sphere of quarantine and plant protection, on mutual recognition of documents on education.
